TaiChung Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital

This day was another wonderful day for us! We made an official visit to National Chung Hsing University College of Veterinary Medicine in Taichung City.

Aunty Liu is always so full of youthful energy! =) She really inspire us to pursue our dreams, daring us to step up and do the right things.

As you can see *top right*, this is a very prestigious veterinary faculty as their certificates are even recognize by Malaysian government! =)

It's the vet of course you can see lots of animals rooming around, big ones, short ones, cute ones...and of course~~SICK ones!.

We were invited into the conference room for their presentation of their College of Veterinary. Our presenter that day was a young guy Ray Wu who just graduated his Masters in Clinical Veterinary Medicine from Chung Hsing University. His's english is very very good because he studied in the states before.

So this is him giving us an interesting introduction on how Taiwan Veterinary Hospital Works. The surgical procedures, for example in times of emergency situation which will require them to set up temporary camp outside in order to perform surgery to wounded animals. Thought it's temporary they will always try their very  best to provide the best environment suitable to perform surgery. They even will bring their own generator to power one of their portable sterilizer to clean their surgery instruments.

They too help perform TNR to the animals. They also dispatch teams occasionally to different geological area to perform vaccination to the strays. All these works are voluntary from their certified students and teachers.

The most interesting part of the session for me is the part where they treated really really wounded dog. From a really ugly looking black dog that healed into a beautiful Golden Retriever. The before after picture of the transformation process really put a smile on our faces in the end.

Some of the tools the College of Veterinary used as simulation tools for the students to perform surgery on. Giving them a near realistic opportunity to practice some of the basic surgery skills on dummies.

but for us...it's like a toys =P

Same goes to Aunty Liu too! =P

All of us in the conference room.

After the presentation they gave us a tour of the hospital. Almost every corner we were given a chance to peek into~ the equipment above is one of those that sterilizer but of course this is not the PORTABLE ones.

We were very lucky to be able to witness a live surgery during our tour. We were only allow to peek from outside *of course*

Above shows one of their many surgery rooms with all the advance equipment, monitors, anaesthetics and so on.

Animal wards for the animals to rest after surgery.

They even have the animal ICU. It's really amazing & COOL!

Their College of Veterinary is equipped with many latest sophisticated facilities to offer the best learning and practice experience for their students both in simulation and real life situation.

This is one of the equipment use to monitor the animal heart condition. *correct me if I'm mistaken*

It's been a really wonderful experience at National Chung Hsing University College of Veterinary Medicine. Personally I've learned so much in this very limited time. Hereby wants to say thanks to Mr Ray!

After that we move on to visit one of the private shelter in Taichung which is yet again located far far away form the city for the same reason as Aunty Liu's Shelter. The view there are just magnificent!

When we arrived the clouds were very dark. Seems like it's going to rain....again~

We were greeted by their full time staff working there, the one in blue Yáng yōuyōu *楊幽幽*. She gave us a tour of the shelter which were divided into several section that accommodate around 800 dogs.

The best part of the tour is to go up the hills and look down into Taichung CITY!!

It's not really a long way up. But it takes some effort to climb up that hill!

It's wonderful the moment you step foot on the top.

A panorama view of this breathtaking scenery ~ You can see it's definitely going to rain very very soon.

Our group photo on top of the hill! AMAZING!!

After visiting the hill *first because it's going to rain* which was nothing related our project~ haha. We come down and visit their Medical Room. It is one of those facilities set up to provide medical care for those sick animals and also to perform sterilization to them.

some of the doggies resting inside~

There is also a area which they separated the newcomer with the others which I define as the probation section =) The reason for this it is because they want the newcomers to get use to the environment before joining the other dogs to reduce necessary fighting among the dogs in defending their 'territory'.

Bus station at Taichung. Getting ready to head back Taipei.

Awesome dinner we had!

Taipei 101 look just amazing during the night.
